Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 3, 2026

Ubidrop is provided by Alexandros Stylianidis.

This Privacy Policy explains how Ubidrop handles information across the Ubidrop apps and website.

What Ubidrop does

Ubidrop helps you transfer files between nearby devices over your local WiFi network.

Transfers are designed to happen directly between your devices on the same local network. Ubidrop does not use Ubidrop-operated cloud storage to relay the contents of your files during normal transfers.

Information we do not collect in telemetry

As described in our telemetry policy, Ubidrop does not intentionally send the following in product analytics or crash reporting:

  • filenames
  • file contents
  • raw URLs being transferred
  • user-entered device names
  • IP addresses
  • public keys
  • transfer session identifiers
  • feedback email message contents

App analytics

Ubidrop uses PostHog for product analytics on Android, iOS, and macOS.

PostHog is configured for manual event capture only. Ubidrop sends limited product events such as app opens, send and receive outcomes, nearby scan starts, and review prompt requests. These events are used to understand product quality and usage patterns.

Examples of information that may be included in analytics:

  • platform
  • app version
  • build number
  • debug or release build state
  • distribution channel
  • item count
  • coarse payload kind, such as file, URL, text, or directory archive
  • coarse success, failure, or cancel reason

Crash reporting

Ubidrop uses the following crash reporting providers:

Crash and diagnostic reports may include technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, timestamps, and stack traces. These reports are used to diagnose reliability issues.

Website analytics

The Ubidrop website uses:

These services help us understand website traffic and usability. They may collect technical usage information about visits to the website.

Local network and file handling

Ubidrop requires local network access so nearby devices can discover each other and transfer files.

Received files are stored on your device. The storage location and handling may differ by platform.

Third-party services

Ubidrop uses third-party services that may process limited technical information:

You should review the privacy policies of those providers if you want more detail about how they process data.

Security

Ubidrop is designed to keep transfers on your local network and avoid collecting file contents in telemetry. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Children's privacy

Ubidrop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date shown on this page.
